Sue Ann Chapman, age 64, died February 5, 2010 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA following a short illness. She was born in Beckley, WV on December 25, 1945 and was the daughter of H. Wayne Mason and Juanita McMillion of Beckley, WV.
She was preceded in death by her brother Paul Mason, Step-Mother Vivian Mason and Step-Father Emory McMillion.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 37 years, Bill Chapman, her children Scott Chapman of Indialantic, FL, Becky Walker (Kent) of Beckley, WV, John Chapman of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Destiny Mason at home. She has one grandson Andy Walker.
Also surviving her are her father H. Wayne Mason (Betsy) and mother Juanita McMillion of Beckley, WV, sisters Jeanie Cochran (Roger) of Fredrick, MD, Linda Mitchem (Roger) of Beckley, WV and many nieces and nephews.
She was a 1963 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV and a 1970 graduate of Beckley College with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. She was employed by Mason and Company and by the Raleigh County Board of Education while in Beckley. In 1984 she and her husband moved to Mechanicsburg, PA and then to Perrysburg, OH in 2001 and back to Mechanicsburg in 2007.
She was very active in her churches throughout the years. She was a member of the United Methodist Temple in Beckley, WV, First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, PA and the First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, OH. In Mechanicsburg, PA she was a prayer warrior for the Prayer Team, Sunday School Teacher, teacher for the Wonderful Wednesday program, as well as once serving as the Church Secretary. While in Bowling Green she established the Sunshine Sunday School Class for mentally challenged adults.
Sue was also very active in her community. She volunteered most recently at the Daren Shelter in Mechanicsburg, PA. In Ohio, she volunteered at the Pregnancy Center in Bowling Green, The American Red Cross and St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, OH. She was a past member of the Upper Alan Women’s Club.
Funeral service will be Thursday February 11th at 11am-1pm at Melton’s Mortuary in Beckley, WV with a memorial service to follow in First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg on February 20th at 10:30 am.
Donations of sympathy can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, PA. Family member will be pallbearers.
